Literature Text

If only you would remember,
   Me,
  Even though I did nothing,
       To deserve a memory,
Nothing,
     To warrant a thought,
   When I failed you,
             And betrayed your trust.

If only you would return to,
   Me,
Even though I pushed you away,
       And kept repelling you,
Away,
     Like identical ends,
   On a magnet,
             In repulsion.

If only you would understand,
   Me,
And that I now know I was wrong,
       And that I miss you,
Love you,
      But even that isn't enough,
   To ask for forgiveness,
             For my mistakes.

If only you would forgive,
   Me,
Because I know I was wrong,
And I know that I hurt you,
Forgive me,
     And know that without you,
   I would sooner die,
             As payment for my mistakes.
After severely putting my relationship in jeopardy, I wrote this as an 'I'm sorry' letter.

I know that's not good enough to pardon what I did (or almost did but walked away from), but it says how I feel, and I pray that you'll see it like I do, and understand how I walked away, because I couldn't betray you.

I like the format, but I do have to say I am getting a bit depressed from all your great poems.
