dA Literature Contests Commish

The icon has a colorful pastel background with blended shades of green and violet, which draw in the eyes attention in a calming matter. More so attention grabbing is the flashing blue and purple .gif effects on the word 'Contests'. This flashing light draws in attention immediately and with the combination of the low-tone background the overall image becomes less 'bright and blaring'. The other flicking image below contests however seems to be on a separate blink schedule, bringing in an amount of contrast which, alerts additional attention, which invokes a sense of irritating contrast which may warrant that the view not sustain long term observation of the image.

A subtle additional effect to this piece is the shine of the book which along with the black words "dA Literature" and the dark violet boarder creates calming effects.

In total the calming effects outweigh the visual 'blare' and create an overall visually pleasant .gif image with eye-popping color and subtlety, which is not an easy combination to make.
